Water Treatment Plant Operator I

  The City of Albemarle is now accepting applications for:  
     
  Water Treatment Plant Operator I: Performs responsible operational, laboratory, and maintenance functions in a water or wastewater treatment plant on a rotating shift in the plants division of the Public Utilities Department. Hiring salary is $14.04 hourly. Deadline for receipt of applications is Friday, June 24, 2016..  
     
  Minimum Qualifications  
     
   
  1. Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school, preferably supplemented by a course in mechanics.

  2. Ability to obtain North Carolina water operator's grade C certificate or grade I wastewater operator certificate within 12 months of hire date. Employee should not be removed from probation until certification is achieved.

  3. Possession of or ability to obtain a valid N.C. Driver's License.

  4. Undergo background investigation.

  5. May reside in Stanly County or adjoining county, but where the qualifications of the prospective employees are substantially the same, City residents will receive first consideration.

One (1) Main Street Manager: Performs responsible promotional, marketing, events planning, and general administrative assistance to support efforts to improve the appearance, vitality, and economic development of downtown Albemarle business district and economic development programs. Responsibilities include executing events and activities, promoting downtown through marketing, public relations, and advertising efforts. Minimum starting salary is $45,294.00 annually. Deadline for applications is Friday, July 8, 2016.
 
Minimum Qualifications
 
  1. Previous experience in downtown development, economic development, planning, and/or marketing is required; experience with the Main Street program and Main Street Four Point Approach® is preferred.

  2. Graduation from accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in business, public relations or a related field and related experience which will yield the required knowledge, skills, and abilities; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.

  3. Employee must exercise considerable tact and discretion in dealing with the public.

  4. Work involves independent judgment in implementing program events and activities.

  5. Possession of a valid driver’s license.

Water & Sewer Plants Superintendent

One(1) Water & Sewer Plants Superintendent: Performs responsible supervisory, administrative planning and technical work in directing the operation of the Water and Sewer Plants Division in the municipal Public Utilities Department. Salary range is $54,891.20 - $81,494.40 annually DOQ. Vacancy is open until filled.
 
Minimum Qualifications
 
  1. Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in engineering or related sciences, supplemented by training in water and wastewater treatment or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  2. Possession of, or ability to obtain a NC Grade IV Biological Water Pollution Control System Operator’s certificate; a North Carolina Grade A-Surface Water Treatment Plant Operator’s certificate; North Carolina Grade-C Well certification

  3. Possession of or ability to obtain a valid N.C. Driver’s License.

  4. May reside within Stanly County or adjoining county, but where the qualifications of the prospective employees are substantially the same, City residents will receive first consideration.

Parks Maintenance Crew Leader:  Performs intermediate professional and supervisory duties related to assessing, assigning, and overseeing the duties and work of two parks maintenance crews; does related work as required. Hiring salary is $33,799 annually. Deadline for receipt of applications is Friday, July 1, 2016.

 
     
  Minimum Qualifications  
     
   
  1. Graduation from high school and any combination of experience and some experience in maintenance tasks; or an equivalent combination of education which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

  2. Possession of or ability to obtain a valid NC driver’s license.

  3. Knowledge general maintenance tasks and the use of small equipment and power tools and distinguish safety hazards which may affect self and others.

  4. Knowledge of planting, spraying, pruning and propagation of plants.

  5. Ability to communicate effectively with the public on garden matters.

  6. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, coworkers and the general public and ability to prepare and maintain simple records of work activities. driver's license.
