Solid Waste Superintendent

  The City of Albemarle is now accepting applications for:
   
  Solid Waste Superintendent: Performs difficult technical work planning, organizing and directing the activities associated with the collection, recycling and disposal of solid waste. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Director of Public Works. Supervision is exercised over employees assigned to the landfill. Starting salary is $49,937.00 annually. Vacancy is open until filled.
   
  Minimum Qualifications
   
   
  1. Graduation from an accredited college or university with a degree in environmental engineering, public administration, or related field and considerable experience in environmental or public management fields, including supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  2. Thorough knowledge of the laws, regulations, and compliance strategies regarding a lined landfill and solid waste management and considerable knowledge of the engineering principles and practices applied to landfill management.
  3. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with elected officials, other City staff, and the general public.
  4. Skill in the use of computers and other techniques related to maintaining records, writing reports and correspondence, and doing numerical analysis.
  5. Possession of a valid N.C. driver's license
  6. May reside in Stanly County or adjoining county, but where the qualifications of the prospective employees are substantially the same, City residents will receive first consideration.
  7. Ability to obtain SWANA Manager of Landfill Operations (MOLO) certification.

  One (1) Information Systems Business Analyst: Performs complex and specialized work in the analysis and application of technology tools to support and enhance the operation and integration of the City's data-driven operations infrastructure. Hiring salary is $47,559.00 annually. Vacancy is open until June 10, 2016.
  Minimum Qualifications
   
 
  1. Graduation from a four-year college with a major in information processing, data processing, computer operations, or related field; experience in data analytics and report-writing methodologies; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  2. Prefer experience in an MS SQL 2008R2 environment; experience with SharePoint 2013 integration also desired; operational environment is a converged communications platform with a managed MS Windows domain and a Citrix-based virtual desktop platform

  3. Possession of or ability to obtain a valid N.C. Driver’s License.

  4. May reside within Stanly County or adjoining county, but where the qualifications of the prospective employees are substantially the same, City residents will receive first consideration.

Salary range is $54,891.20 - $81,494.40 annually DOQ. Vacancy is open until filled.
 
Minimum Qualifications
 
  1. Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in engineering or related sciences, supplemented by training in water and wastewater treatment or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  2. Possession of, or ability to obtain a NC Grade IV Biological Water Pollution Control System Operator’s certificate; a North Carolina Grade A-Surface Water Treatment Plant Operator’s certificate; North Carolina Grade-C Well certification

  3. Possession of or ability to obtain a valid N.C. Driver’s License.

  4. May reside within Stanly County or adjoining county, but where the qualifications of the prospective employees are substantially the same, City residents will receive first consideration.
